Area & Oriental Rugs
We clean all types of area and oriental rugs in our specially designed state-of-the-art rug cleaning plant. Oriental rugs require more skill and expertise than cleaning of normal carpet. Our rug cleaning specialists were among the nation’s first IICRC certified technicians and they possess the knowledge, skill, and experience to ensure that your rugs are cleaned properly and thoroughly to protect its appearance and value. We have several different cleaning methods available to us and our technicians are equipped to advise you on the best method for your individual cleaning needs. Although best results are achieved when rugs are cleaned in our plant, we also offer in-home services when the option of bringing the run into our plant is not available. We also work with other professionals who can evaluate your rug’s value and condition and make the repairs necessary to protect and improve your rug’s value.
Oriental Rug Maintenance & Care
- We recommend you purchase a pad to put underneath your rug to retain your rug's original appearance longer. We offer different types of pad for your individual needs.
- Rotate your rug periodically to prevent traffic and sunlight patterns from causing fading or uneven wear.
- Vacuum regularly to remove everyday dirt and dust. Never vacuum the fringe. Regular vacuuming helps prevent dirt on the surface of the rug from filtering down into the pile where it can accumulate and cause increased wear.
- Protect your rugs from fumes and dampness. Keep them in a dry environment.
- If a rug is cut or torn, have the rug repaired as soon as possible.
- Moths can cause extensive damage to natural fiber rugs. Eliminate these pests and the damage they can cause by having your rug moth-proofed when you have it professionally cleaned. The beauty and life of your rugs are vitally dependent on their cleanliness. Lack of maintenance will contribute to loss in your investment.
- Take care of your rugs at home and have them professionally cleaned on a regular basis.

- Take immediate action on spills. Never rub a spill. Use a wool-safe cleaning agent such as Peaches'n Clean Spot Lifter to remove spots.
Special Considerations:
Water Damage: Remove furnishings from the rug immediately to avoid staining and damage to your rug and furniture. Have your rug professionally cleaned and treated for mold and mildew.Pets: Pets can be extremely hazardous to the life of your rug. Natural fibers are very vulnerable to permanent staining from pet urine. Rugs in homes with pets will need more regular vacuuming to remove pet hair and more frequent professional cleaning. We have special processes for removing pet urine and pet urine odors from oriental rugs.
Reversible Rugs: Reversible rugs should be turned over and around, like rotating a mattress. Both sides of the rug will require equal care.
Crushed Pile: Revive carpet pile that has been crushed by heavy furniture by brushing the area with a soft brush. Moisten with a spray bottle, and brush again.
Fringe: Rake, never vacuum, fringe. Ask about our Rug Rake for raking rug fringe.
Flokati Rugs: Rather than vacuum, you should shake your flokati outside on a regular basis to remove dust and dirt. When stored, you should always use a moth repellent, as it is 100% wool.
Moth Proofing: For all wool rugs, we recommend a moth treatment when your rugs are professionally cleaned.
